Gamification for Heritage Tourism
in collaboration with
WHES - World Heritage Switzerland
Organized in collaboration with the Zayed University (United Arab Emirates), the University of Western Macedonia and the Institute of Economic Analysis & Entrepreneurship of the University of Macedonia (Greece), it explores both tangible and intangible cultural heritage across two historic cities - Thessaloniki and Kastoria - with a focus on Byzantine heritage.

ICTs and the Challenges of “Overtourism”: Exploring the Case of Machupicchu
Organized in collaboration with the UNESCO Chair in Anthropology of Health, Biosphere and Healing Systems of the University of Genoa, the UNESCO Chair on City, Landscape and Heritage of the University of Lima, the UNESCO Chair on Cultural Heritage and Sustainable Tourism of the University San Martin de Porres (Lima) and supported by the UNESCO office in Lima, the school offers a unique opportunity to explore the intricate dynamics between tourism, heritage and sustainability, and address them with the help of ICTs.

USI UNESCO Chair organized one of the Summer Schools offered by the Swiss Study Foundation to the smartest students of any faculty. The main goal was to understand how digital media can help to address current sensitive issues in tourism at heritage places such as cultural and social sustainability.

Digital media for tourism in Creative Cities: Experiences from the Center of Portugal

Realized in collaboration with the University of Coimbra, the school explored the role of digital media in enhancing urban sustainable development within the frame of the UNESCO Creative Cities progamme.
