On November 8th, 2023, at 11:30 in room 355 of the main building of Università della Svizzera italiana (via G. Buffi 13, Lugano), Miguel Zamora-Salas will give a presentation on his experience in planning and management of tourism in Perù, especially at the National Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu, and how the introduction of digital technologies has or may help. The presentation is given within the course “Digital Transformation in Tourism” of the Master in International Tourism. Entrance is free.

SPEKAER’S BIO

Miguel Zamora-Salas is a specialist in planning and management of Peruvian tourism, with 40 years of experience in the development of regional tourism in Cusco. From 1996 to 1998, as Regional Director of Tourism in Cusco, he created a unified policy for economic development. As National Director of Tourism of the Ministry of Foreign Trade and Tourism, from 2002 to 2006, he expanded the principles applied in Cusco to a general planning strategy. In 2011, he directed the most successful Intirami Festival, inviting more than 650 artists to the event and receiving the widest press coverage ever recorded for similar events. Since 2014, he has been head of the Office of Visitors and Tourism Services at the National Archaeological Park of Machu Picchu and has been integrating this experience into planning courses of tourism in Japan and Poland, as well as in the academic activity of the University of San Marcos Lima and Ceenpotur in Cusco.
