The online course Tourism Management at UNESCO World Heritage Sites is a new MOOC (Massive Open Online Course) that provides a wide overview of the main tourism issues at World Heritage Sites. It is produced by the UNESCO-UNITWIN Network Culture, Tourism, Development, led by Paris 1 Panthéon-Sorbonne University (Paris, France). A team of highly profiled researchers in the field introduces learners to several aspects related to the topic: UNESCO’s principles and doctrines, Communication Technologies, Economy, Management and Planning, and more.
The course is delivered in English and is fully free and open, starting in mid-January 2018 on the major French platform, FUN MOOC. It is organized in 8 thematic units that are unveiled every week. Their structure foresees ad-hoc didactic videos and documents, as well as quizzes, additional materials, and activities aimed at fostering experience sharing among learners.
Learners successfully completing the MOOC will receive a free course completion certificate.
USI’s UNESCO Chair contributes to this MOOC through a module devoted to eTourism for Heritage, and has co-coordinated the development of the whole project.
