This workshop is organized by USI UNESCO Chair in collaboration with UFMG (Federal University of Minas Gerais, Brazil) and UFVJM (Federal University of Vale do Jequitinhonha and Mucuri, Brazil), as a side-event to the UNESCO World Conference on Cultural Policies and Sustainable Development – MONDIACULT 2022.

From quantitative and qualitative research conducted with tourists and heritage managers around the world, a conceptual model of cultural sustainability was created which theoretically establishes the role of culture in the concept of sustainability for heritage sites. In the workshop, the role of culture in sustainability in heritage sites will be discussed, taking the perspective of tourism and management.
